Fairfax County
For Chantilly properties in Fairfax County, new residential EV charging circuits and outlets are subject to applicable Fairfax County electrical permitting and inspection requirements. Fairfax uses its PLUS permitting system.
CHANTILLY / FAIRFAX & LOUDOUN
Auto Charge Pros provides professional Level 2 EV charger installation throughout Chantilly and surrounding Northern Virginia communities. Because Chantilly mailing addresses can fall within either Fairfax County or Loudoun County, we confirm the actual project jurisdiction first and then plan the installation around the home's electrical capacity, charger requirements, parking location and practical wiring route. Owner and Virginia Master Electrician Nick Wilson performs the electrical work personally, with no subcontractors.

01 / local installation plan
Chantilly includes townhomes, established single-family neighborhoods and newer residential development across more than one county jurisdiction. Electrical-panel locations, garages and finished areas can therefore vary significantly between properties.
Before recommending an installation, we review the electrical panel, available service capacity, proposed charger location, normal vehicle parking position and the practical path for the new charging circuit. Charger placement is also planned around cable reach, charge-port location, garage-door operation and everyday use.
02 / what we install
Auto Charge Pros installs hardwired and plug-in Level 2 charging equipment for most major electric vehicles. For permanent residential charging, we generally prefer hardwired equipment when the charger and electrical system support it because the charger connects directly to the dedicated circuit without a plug-and-receptacle connection.

03 / jurisdiction first
The word 'Chantilly' on a mailing address does not determine which county handles the electrical permit. Chantilly addresses exist in both Fairfax County and Loudoun County, so Auto Charge Pros confirms the actual project jurisdiction before submitting permit paperwork.
For Chantilly properties in Fairfax County, new residential EV charging circuits and outlets are subject to applicable Fairfax County electrical permitting and inspection requirements. Fairfax uses its PLUS permitting system.
For Chantilly-addressed properties in Loudoun County, applicable electrical permits and inspections are handled through Loudoun County Building & Development.
Not sure which county your Chantilly address is in? We confirm the jurisdiction during project planning.
04 / electrical capacity
Open breaker spaces do not automatically mean the electrical service has enough available capacity for another substantial continuous load. A charger configured for 48 amps typically requires an appropriately designed 60-amp dedicated circuit when the equipment, vehicle capability, wiring method and available electrical capacity support that output.
Auto Charge Pros evaluates the electrical system before recommending output. When full-rate charging is not appropriate, options may include reduced charger output, compatible load management, compatible charger power sharing, panel or feeder modifications, or a service upgrade when genuinely required.
Review Load Management and Electrical Panel Upgrades when those options are part of the planning conversation.
05 / home layouts
01
When the panel is in or near the garage and adequate capacity is available, the circuit route may be relatively direct.
02
The circuit may need to cross finished ceilings, framing transitions or unfinished utility areas before reaching the garage.
03
Compact electrical rooms, finished spaces, limited garage wall area and exterior routing can require additional planning.
04
Outdoor installations require consideration of equipment rating, wiring method, mounting location, weather exposure and physical protection.
06 / installation process
01
Review service rating, breaker space, equipment condition and existing electrical demand.
02
Determine appropriate charging load and complete the applicable load calculation when required.
03
Plan the route through walls, ceilings, framing transitions, garage areas or exterior portions.
04
Consider charge-port location, cable reach, parking position, garage doors and usability.
05
Nick installs the dedicated circuit, charger or approved receptacle, configures supported settings and tests the installation.
06
Coordinate applicable county permit/inspection requirements and complete any included drywall access restoration after the required electrical work and inspection.
07 / Tesla charging
Auto Charge Pros is a Tesla Certified Installer providing Tesla Wall Connector and Universal Wall Connector installation throughout Chantilly and Northern Virginia. We evaluate available electrical capacity, determine the appropriate circuit, plan the wiring route and position the Wall Connector around the vehicle's normal parking location and cable reach.
Compatible Tesla installations may also support reduced charging output, multiple Wall Connectors with power sharing, compatible power-management solutions, and indoor or outdoor mounting.
08 / permits & inspections
Permit jurisdiction depends on the property's actual county. Permit and inspection requirements vary by jurisdiction and project scope. Auto Charge Pros confirms the applicable process for the actual property and work being performed. Applicable Fairfax County projects use its PLUS system; inspection type and availability depend on the project and inspector.
Chantilly-addressed properties in Loudoun County follow the applicable Loudoun County electrical permit and inspection process. When permitting is included in the project scope, Auto Charge Pros can submit the applicable electrical permit and coordinate inspection.
09 / charging connection
For most permanent residential Level 2 installations, Auto Charge Pros generally prefers hardwired equipment when supported by the charger and electrical system. Hardwiring eliminates the plug-and-receptacle connection and can support higher charging output with compatible equipment.
A properly installed EV-rated receptacle can still be appropriate for compatible plug-in charging equipment or homeowners who value portability.
See NEMA 14-50 Outlet Installation for outlet-specific planning.
10 / questions homeowners ask
Cost depends on the electrical panel, available capacity, circuit length, wiring route, charger location, finished areas, county permitting requirements, load management and drywall restoration. Auto Charge Pros reviews the electrical setup and proposed route before providing a written estimate.
Either is possible. Auto Charge Pros confirms the actual county before applying the correct permitting and inspection requirements.
A new residential EV charging circuit is subject to the requirements of the county where the property is located.
Fairfax currently offers virtual and in-person building/trade inspections. Virtual inspection may be requested but is subject to inspector approval.
Possibly. Available capacity depends on the home's existing electrical demand, not only service rating or open breaker spaces.
Not necessarily. Alternatives can include reduced charging output or compatible load management. An upgrade should be recommended only when actually required.
Yes. The route depends on framing, finished walls and ceilings, available unfinished spaces, distance and garage location.
For permanent high-output charging, hardwired equipment is generally preferred, although a properly installed EV-rated receptacle can be appropriate for compatible plug-in equipment.
Yes. Auto Charge Pros is a Tesla Certified Installer and installs Tesla Wall Connectors and Universal Wall Connectors throughout Chantilly and Northern Virginia.
Auto Charge Pros provides a one-year workmanship and installed-materials warranty on covered installation work. Charger equipment may have a separate manufacturer warranty.
11 / workmanship
The charger is only the visible portion of the installation. When practical, Auto Charge Pros prefers concealed wiring instead of automatically running exposed conduit across finished walls and ceilings.
If drywall access is required, expected openings are discussed before installation whenever practical. Where included in the written estimate, removed drywall may be securely fastened back after the required electrical work and inspection. Full finishing—including tape, compound and sanding—is available separately when requested unless specifically included in the written scope.
Auto Charge Pros also provides panel work, dedicated circuits, whole-home surge protection, troubleshooting, lighting, receptacles, switches and other residential electrical services.
12 / local service
Auto Charge Pros provides EV charger installation throughout Chantilly and surrounding Northern Virginia communities. Because Chantilly addresses can cross the Fairfax–Loudoun county line, we confirm the actual jurisdiction before permit submission and inspection scheduling.
