Some Purcellville properties require or benefit from equipment located outside the garage. Outdoor installations may involve exterior-rated charging equipment, weather exposure, equipment mounting, physical protection, conduit or another approved wiring method, wet-location conductors, placement around vehicle movement, snow, rain and normal property maintenance, charging-cable management, and underground routing when appropriate.
Underground routing is not automatically required for every outdoor charger. When underground work is part of the installation, the written estimate should identify what is included: trenching, boring, conduit, conductors, excavation, backfilling, surface restoration, landscaping restoration, and driveway or hardscape work.
Charging cords should not cross a public sidewalk, pedestrian path, shared walkway, a location creating a tripping hazard, or a public right-of-way. Restoration of landscaping, asphalt, concrete, pavers or other finished surfaces is included only when specifically identified in the written estimate.
